Blight Gaming qualify for CG Invite
Blight Gaming have secured the first spot for the upcoming CyberGamer Invite league thanks to beating fm-eSports TOXiC in the final of the first qualifier 2-0 (16-2 on de_inferno_se and 16-7 on de_dust2_se).
CyberGamer tournament organization, whose main focus so far were Call of Duty 4 tournaments, recently decided to venture into CS:GO and their first step was forming a league structure with three tiers – Invite, Main and Academy. In order to fill those leagues up they started a qualifying process, which began this Monday with the Qualifier Cup #1 by Tt eSPORTS.
Over 40 teams took part in it, including the recently announced new WinFakt squad, as well as Norwegians BX3 featuring CS 1.6 star Preben "prb" Gammelsæter and Finnish CARAMBA with Niko "naSu" Kovanen in the lineup.
After several days of matches, the cup reached its final where it turned out Blight Gaming, former Danish CSS squad who beat BX3 in the semis, would meet another former CSS squad, fm-eSports TOXiC from UK who took out CARAMBA in their semi-final. That final match took place this evening, when the Danes, formerly known as HLV, were forced to play without their captain Casper "ruggah" Due, so they were expected to be the underdogs.
However, they managed to establish control from the very beginning of the first map, de_inferno_se, as the pistol round that came down to the wire went their way. It wasn't until the eighth round that fm.TOXiC snapped out of it, but the Danes kept on rolling and won their CT side 13-2. With the second pistol round in the bag as well, a very one sided map soon ended in favor of Blight Gaming with a 16-2 score.
After moving on to de_dust2_se, fm.TOXiC had the task of defending first and this time a close pistol round went to them. That spurred them onto playing much better than in the first map and soon after they were up 6-1.
However, Blight quickly turned things around with a series of successful attacks and at half time the score stood at 8-7 for the Danes. In the second half, Blight Gaming showed that they were the better team on this occasion by easily stopping all attempts from their opponents, and the map ended 16-7 in their favor.

This top tier competition will contain 16 teams in total, 12 of which will be invited by the organizers, while the remaining three (excluding Blight) will be found via qualifiers. It is rumored that the first invites went to NiP, mousesports and VeryGames, although the organizers will confirm the full team-list after the qualifying process is over.
